Windsurfing
2011 ends another great year for Largs Wave Warriors. We finished second in Scotland in our T15 zone (for more about T15 click here). The RYA presented the team with rash vests. We managed to attend 3 out of the 4 events this year. The last one was at Loch Insh in August. The loch Insh Monsters were very kind to us and delayed their training session to allow us to travel up to Aviemore and join in with their session on the Saturday afternoon. 15 competitors, instructors and parents made the journey to Aviemore enjoyed the hospitality of the Loch Insh Watersports Club into the wee small hours. The T15 event on the Sunday was well attended with almost 30 kids on the water taking part in the racing.
Thank you to McTaggart Construction of Dalry and Andrew Wright Windows of Irvine. Both companies provided assistance with our travelling expenses for the team.
We end the year with news that Awards for All have issued a grant for £5000.00 to allow us to buy new boards. We hope to have the new boards delivered in October so we will be having some winter training.
Next year
- A weekly T15 meeting, for those who have completed the begginers course (or got a RYA stage 1)
- Four traveller events
- We hope to offer a summer week long course.
We want to do a lot more and are looking for help from parents to help out which would allow more kids to take part, and to help those already taking part to go further! If you can help us please let us know.
